What is Booking prepayment?
It is a new reservation requirement effective January 2024. Basically, it consists in making a down payment (within 3 days since owner approves your booking request). This payment consists of “one-third” of the total amount of the first month’s rent (owner will confirm the amount to be pre-paid). The remaining/pending balance (of the first month’s rent) must be paid upon arrival at the facility and directly to the property owners. Note: This is NOT a security deposit.
To illustrate, if your monthly payment is $600USD this means that your pre-payment will be $200USD (one-third of the first month’s rent). Once you make this pre-payment then you will be able to confirm your reservation. You must contact your landlord directly for payment instructions.
How to make the booking pre-payment transfer?
Once your homeowner approves your reservation, the platform will enable the owner contact information. It is when you will ask your homeowner directly “priority” for the bank information to proceed with the pre-payment in a period no longer than 3 days (once your booking order is approved by the onwer). Otherwise, your reservation will be cancelled for non-payment. Do not forget to share the payment receipt to you owner. Note: The housing platform does NOT process payments of any kind.
Is booking pre-payment required for all UPEACE facilities?
No. Not all owners ask for a pre-payment. To know if an owner requests the pre-payment, you can find out in the description of each property. There you will be able to know if it is required or not.
* If it is NOT required, it means that you can make your first payment the same day of your arrival
* If the pre-payment IS required, you must pay it (within 3 days) in order to confirm your reservation and secure your home.
Is the prepayment refundable?
NO, the pre-payment is non-refundable and non-transferable.
What happens if I need to change my arrival date, will I lose the pre-payment?
If your reservation was already confirmed and prepaid within the given 3 days, homeowners may offer a “grace period” for your new arrival date, typically between 7 to 10 days from your booking date, depending on the owner’s discretion. Any changes to your travel date should be promptly reported to the owner.
