Cancellation Policy – UPEACE Housing Platform

1. General Policy

All reservations made through the UPEACE Housing Platform are considered official and binding commitments. Students are expected to carefully review all property details and policies before submitting a reservation request.

2. Cancellation Before Arrival

• • • • • • If a reservation requires booking pre-payment, this amount is non-refundable under any circumstances, even if the reservation is later canceled by the student.
          • If no pre-payment is required and the student cancels before arrival, the reservation may be canceled without financial penalty, provided that:
            • The student informs the Housing Office and the property owner as soon as possible, and
            • No payments have been made directly to the property owner.

3. Automatic Cancellation Due to Non-Payment

• • • • • • If a booking pre-payment is required and not completed within 72 hours after the reservation is approved by the property owner, the system will automatically cancel the reservation.
          • Automatically canceled reservations cannot be reinstated.

4. Cancellation During the Trial Month (First Month)

• • • • • • The first month of stay is considered a trial month.
          • During this period, students may decide to move to another accommodation without penalty, provided that:
            • The first month’s rent has been paid in full, and
            • The student informs the property owner within the trial month (second or third week).
          • The trial month applies only once and only to the first accommodation booked through the platform.

5. Cancellation After the Trial Month

• • • • • • After the trial month, all cancellations are subject to the terms and conditions of the signed lease agreement and Costa Rican tenancy law.
          • Students must provide at least one (1) month written notice, aligned with their rent payment cycle.
          • Failure to provide proper notice may result in:
            • Loss or partial loss of the security deposit, and/or
            • Responsibility for an additional month of rent.

6. Early Termination of Stay

• • • • • • Early termination after the trial month does not exempt the student from their contractual obligations.
          • Any financial consequences (rent, deposit deductions, penalties) will be determined according to:
            • The signed lease agreement, and
            • Applicable Costa Rican rental regulations.

7. Exceptional Circumstances

• • • • • • Requests related to medical emergencies or force majeure situations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
          • Approval of exceptions is not guaranteed and remains at the discretion of the property owner and applicable legal framework.

8. Important Disclaimer

UPEACE acts solely as a facilitator between students and property owners. The University does not handle rental payments, refunds, or enforce lease terminations. All financial matters are managed directly between the student and the property owner.

Reglamento para Huéspedes Hotel Rincón del Valle Estimado huésped: Le damos la más cordial bienvenida. Con el fin de garantizar una estancia agradable para todos nuestros visitantes, le solicitamos respetar las siguientes normas: 1. Horarios  Check-in: a partir de las 3:00 p.m. Cargo extra $40 + iva  Check-out: antes de las 11:00 a.m. Cargo extra $40 + iva  Las salidas tardías están sujetas a disponibilidad y pueden generar un cargo adicional.  Restaurante de 6:00 a.m. a 9:30 p.m.  Desayuno de 6:00 a.m. a 10:00 p.m. 1  Jacuzzi de 9:00 a.m. a 9:00 p.m. 2. Registro de huéspedes  Toda persona que permanezca en la habitación debe estar registrada en la recepción.  Los visitantes deberán identificarse y cumplir con las políticas del hotel.  El hotel podrá negar el ingreso a personas no registradas. 3. Horario de silencio Se solicita mantener un nivel de ruido moderado entre las 10:00 p.m. y las 7:00 a.m., respetando el descanso de los demás huéspedes. 4. Prohibición de fumar o vapear  Está prohibido fumar o vapear dentro de las habitaciones y áreas interiores del hotel. 1 2296-1001 recepcion@hotelrincondelvallecr.com Sabana Sur, San José  Se permite fumar únicamente en las áreas designadas.  El incumplimiento podrá generar un cargo por limpieza especializada de $200. 5. Cuidado de las instalaciones Los huéspedes son responsables del buen uso del mobiliario, equipos y demás bienes del hotel. Los daños ocasionados por mal uso podrán ser cobrados. 6. Objetos de valor El hotel recomienda utilizar la caja de seguridad, cuando esté disponible. No se hace responsable por objetos de valor dejados sin resguardo. 7. Mascotas Solo se permiten mascotas si la tarifa reservada o la política del hotel así lo autoriza. En ese caso, deberán cumplirse las normas establecidas para su permanencia. 8. Limpieza de habitaciones El servicio de limpieza se realiza en el horario establecido por el hotel. Si desea privacidad, coloque el aviso correspondiente en la puerta. 9. Consumo de alimentos Los alimentos y bebidas provenientes del exterior deberán consumirse respetando la limpieza de las habitaciones y las áreas comunes. 10. Conducta No se permitirán:  Actitudes agresivas o violentas.  Actos que alteren el orden o la tranquilidad.  Conductas que pongan en riesgo la seguridad de otros huéspedes o colaboradores.  Actividades ilegales dentro de las instalaciones. 11. Menores de edad Los menores deberán permanecer bajo la supervisión de un adulto responsable en todo momento. 12. Áreas comunes Le solicitamos mantener limpias las instalaciones y respetar el mobiliario y las normas de uso de cada área. 13. Estacionamiento El estacionamiento está disponible para huéspedes registrados. El hotel no se hace responsable por daños o pérdidas ocasionados por terceros. 14. Emergencias En caso de emergencia, siga las instrucciones del personal y ubique las rutas de evacuación indicadas en su habitación. 15. Derecho de admisión y permanencia El hotel se reserva el derecho de admisión y permanencia conforme a la legislación vigente, cuando la conducta de un huésped afecte la seguridad, la tranquilidad o el bienestar de otras personas, o incumpla este reglamento.
