My name is Patricia Delgado Mendoza. I am married to Carlos Castillo. I have two children and five grandchildren. I am retired from the University of Costa Rica and the Ministry of Public Education. I have had the opportunity to study in Israel, Chile, and Spain. For that reason, I enjoy hosting students and making them feel at home. I have been hosting students since the University for Peace was founded. We have lived with people from various nationalities, and it has been a very enriching experience. Anyone who stays with us can be sure that they will be welcomed into our family and treated as part of our household.

- Written Comment: I had a wonderful experience staying with Patti and her family. The family is so kind, welcoming, and generous. I felt right at home from the start. Their house is conveniently located right in the center of Ciudad Colon, making it easy to get wherever you want to go in town. The bus stop for UPEACE was only a 5-minute walk away. The family invited me along with them on various trips to visit their families in different parts of Costa Rica and to attend cultural events. They always kept me very well fed, even offering additional meals like lunch and food on the weekends. Patti was extremely accommodating of my celiac disease and was always sure that what she served me didn't have gluten. The room was very comfortable with plenty of space and a nice bathroom. More than anything, I developed a wonderful relationship with Patti and her entire family and already miss them and their two sweet dogs! Looking forward to returning to Ciudad Colon and visiting, soon.
